A tale

A tale

lody is the tale of a family which has been nurturing its passion for nature since generations, always thinking of land not as a source of passive income, but as the factor of production for his enterprise.

Our grandfather Ernesto chose to graduate in agriculture and support his drive with the skills needed to face the first challenges of modern agriculture.

He told us of his worries when, in the ‘50s, he used new techniques to plant 50,000 peach trees with zero certainty about production placement.

Then he proceeded to tell us proudly about the opening of the North European markets and the great success of his enterprise.

In 1955 he received from Minister Medici the 3 million lire second national award for his contribution to the Italian agricultural production. From that moment onward, his business gave birth to many new production endeavours and he built an industrial plant for farming products transformation.

Passion, hard work and history then repeat themselves.

lody is the tale of a family which has been nurturing its passion for nature since generations, always thinking of land not as a source of passive income, but as the factor of production for his enterprise.

Our father Piero, after dealing with the family issues brought about by the ‘70s food industry crisis, continued the business and, after intensive horticultural productions, was among the first to farm low processed lettuce in Piana del Sele.

He then focused his energies on aromatic herbs, starting with the production of basil for the most important food businesses. He soon realized how useful those herbs were in gourmet cuisine, and how essential they were for preparing any food product.

Ongoing research and focus on innovation were essential to develop an innovative product and to build a model of virtuous, cyclic and sustainable business, the aim of which has always been to safekeep nature.

Thankful to those who came before us, now it is our turn to channel our enthusiasm and make our grandfather Ernesto and our father Piero’s dream come true.

By the way, we almost forgot,
Elody is our mother’s name.
